Trip to the Desert that starts with snow storms!

3am.

Well this doesn’t look so good now does it!? Woke up to find everything covered in inches of snow. Oh well it cant be THAT bad can it?

WRONG…

M25 well I think it is there somewhere – I just cant see where the road is and the M26 is even worse.. Times like this I’m glad the heating works in the car which is just about the only thing that does. Particularly as I was so proud to get the stereo fitted late last night and working only to have the insulating tape fall off, short out the system and fry the electrics.. Plan b is going to have to be constructed on route.. luckily I bought some errr spares 😉

Really don’t think we are going to make the ferry on time but lucky for us the weather cleared up in Kent and we started making good time, enough to make up for some lost time earlier and even get a coffee before boarding the ferry.

Now you hear about how much a joke the English response to weather is so I was assuming we would hit France and the roads would all be clear, well gritted and no problems… HA. We’ve been skating on ice since about 10:30am this morning. When we got to Poitier, France I heard a conversation about they have snow like this once a year max.. bloody typical… What next? Monsoon in the dessert?

Anyway I guess the good news is all is ok, Still very nervous about the car and very much missing my music… long long days driving tomorrow – gonna try and hit Salamanca by night fall… just under 600 miles lets hope man (or woman!) and machine hold out…. Maybe also try and rig up franken-stereo in the morning.

Oh yeah and the first repair using duct tape has been made at the side of the road…. Apparently the windscreen wipers don’t fit…. They do now!

ODO Reading at start: 155169
Miles covered: 484 (excludes ferry crossing!)
